James A. Cutchins, Sr.
James A. Cutchins, Sr., 89, passed away September 6, 2014 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Suffolk in Nansemond County to the late James A. and Allie Knight Cutchins and was the loving husband to the late Juanita M. Cutchins. He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret L. Cutchins. James served his country in the United States Army in the 129th AAA Gun Battalion having spent 1½ years in Northern France involved in many battles of WWII, and is also one of the last WWII veterans from South Norfolk; he also retired as a supervisor at the Norfolk Naval Base after 36 years of service. One of his greatest joys was taking a wreck of a car and bringing it back to life especially rebuilding Ford cars; he also enjoyed his garden.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Karen Jamieson (Paul); James A. Cutchins, Jr. (Gale); two granddaughters, Niccole Marshall (David) and Victoria VandeMark (Ryan) and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Addison VandeMark.
