Obituary for Ida Fentress Calvin

Ida “Snookie” Fentress Calvin, 70, passed away August 8, 2014 after a long illness. Ida was born to the late John Wesley and Ida Belle Fentress; besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Calvin; daughter, Susan Calvin Day; grandson, Andrew Ryan Day; sister, Grace Courtney; and a nephew, John Fentress, III.
Ida was raised and lived in South Norfolk; was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church and retired with Lab Corp. She was known by all as Snookie; she was also an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles; never meeting a stranger she loved everyone and always greeted you with a hug.
Left to cherish her memory is her grandson, Robbie Day; brothers, John Fentress (Gloria) and Bert Fentress (Jenell); her devoted and loving nieces Debbie Courtney and Theresa LaPoint; a nephew John W. Dailey; her much loved canine friend, Rosie; and many other loving family members and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Raleigh Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Thompson officiating. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. At the request of the family please make memorial contributions to Raleigh Heights Baptist Church, 1000 Crowell Avenue, Chesapeake, VA 23324.
