Obituary for Marion Eugene "Gene" Ipock

Marion Eugene "Gene"  Ipock
Marion Eugene “Gene” Ipock, 83, went to be with the Lord June 1, 2014. He was born in Cove City, NC to the late Albert and Pearl White Ipock. Gene retired after serving his country in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War and after 23 years of service retired as a Master Chief; he attended Woodland Heights Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Prior to moving to Norfolk Gene was a member of Spilman Memorial Baptist Church in Kinston, NC serving in many capacities. He was active in the Daly Men’s Sunday School class, the Neuse Baptist Association, and Inner Church Outreach (ICOR) where he once received the “Good Neighbor Award’. He also enjoyed working with Habitat for Humanity on local projects before he was limited by health problems.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Patricia Taylor Ipock; daughters, Susan Pearson (Warren) and Anne Leanzo (Michael); sister, Marjorie Hawkins (Gus); brothers, James A. “Ham” Ipock, Charles Ipock (JoAnn), Donald Ipock (Joanne), Ted Ipock (Jackie) and Carey Ipock; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Carolyn.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Greenleaf Memorial Gardens, New Bern, NC. Graham Funeral Home, Chesapeake will be caring for arrangements.

At 2 p.m. a Celebration of his life will be held at Spilman Memorial Baptist Church, Kinston.
