Joycelyn Thomas Simmons went home to be with her Lord April 17, 2014. She was born in South Norfolk to the late Leonard M. and Martina Plummer Thomas. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Howard Earl Simmons, Sr.; her son, Howard Earl Simmons, Jr.; sister, June Thomas McHorney; and brothers, Melvin L. Thomas and Arthur Robert “Pete” Thomas. She was a lifelong member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Karen Hamer; daughter-in-love, Mary Simmons Pittenger(Rick);grandchildren, Howard Earl Simmons, III(Samantha), Caroline Joy Bullock(Brad), Kane Hamer and Kristal Hamer; great-grandchildren, Hazel and Logan.
