Joycelyn Thomas Simmons
Joycelyn Thomas Simmons went home to be with her Lord April 17, 2014. She was born in South Norfolk to the late Leonard M. and Martina Plummer Thomas. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Howard Earl Simmons, Sr.; her son, Howard Earl Simmons, Jr.; sister, June Thomas McHorney; and brothers, Melvin L. Thomas and Arthur Robert “Pete” Thomas. She was a lifelong member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Karen Hamer; daughter-in-love, Mary Simmons Pittenger(Rick);grandchildren, Howard Earl Simmons, III(Samantha), Caroline Joy Bullock(Brad), Kane Hamer and Kristal Hamer; great-grandchildren, Hazel and Logan.
The family will receive friends at Graham Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a graveside service at 4 p.m. at Riverside Memorial Park with Pastor Jim Thompson. Please visit her book of memories at www.grahamfuneralhome.com to leave a note to the family.
